Former Deputy Minister for Planning and Coordination Kim Jin-myung of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (now the Ministry of Economy and Finance) received approval to take a job as an outside director at Shinhan Card, and former Tax Policy Director Park Geum-cheol received approval to become head of the International Finance Center.
The Ministry of Personnel Management on the 2nd released the "results of the March 2026 employment review for retiring public officials." Of a total of 88 reviews conducted, one case was "employment restriction," three were "employment disapproval," and the rest were found eligible for employment or received approval.
The ethics committee issued a "restriction" decision on an employment review requested by a former Korean National Police Agency lieutenant who sought to work as a prospective attorney at Logos Law LLC. This was because a close work-related connection was recognized between the department or agency where the person served during the five years before retirement and the prospective employer.
In addition, for three employment cases — ▲ CEO of Geumdo Construction, formerly a senior superintendent at the Korean National Police Agency ▲ director at Bongam Academy (school foundation), formerly a general public official at the Ministry of Education ▲ executive vice chairman at the Federation of Middle Market Enterprises of Korea (FOMEK), formerly an executive at the Korea Standards Association — the ethics committee judged they did not meet the statutory grounds for employment approval and issued "disapproval" decisions.
Separately, the ethics committee uncovered three cases in which individuals subject to employment review took jobs without undergoing prior review, and asked the competent courts to impose fines.
