From the night of the 14th to the morning of the 15th, rain or snow will fall mainly in the central region, including the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon, as well as North Gyeongsang and North Jeolla. Next week, very low temperatures below minus 10 degrees are expected to persist for an extended period.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said in a forecast briefing that "on the night of the 14th in the mountainous areas of Gangwon, and between the early morning and morning of the 15th mainly in the central region, North Gyeongsang, and North Jeolla, there will be rain or snow," and "since most areas will be above freezing, there is a high possibility it will fall mostly as rain."
The expected precipitation on the 14th–15th is 5–10 mm in inland Gangwon and around 5 mm in other areas, and snow accumulation of 1–5 cm (7 cm in high mountains) in the mountainous areas of Gangwon and around 1 cm in the northeastern mountains of North Gyeongsang.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said, "There is a high possibility that the rain that falls will meet the cold ground and create black ice on roads," and "drivers should take caution for traffic safety." Afterward, the weather will be clear for a while, but around the 18th–19th there is a chance of rain or snow nationwide again.
Temperatures, which were higher than average this week, will drop sharply starting early next week. The Korea Meteorological Administration said, "The period with temperatures at or below minus 10 degrees could be prolonged," and "take care with health management due to the continued cold wave." The expected low temperatures in Seoul are ▲ the 20th -12 degrees ▲ the 21st -12 degrees ▲ the 22nd -11 degrees ▲ the 23rd -1 degree ▲ the 24th -10 degrees.
