The Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL), prosecutors, and police on the 30th searched and seized the headquarters of POSCO E&C, the project developer, and other locations in connection with the collapse at the Seoul "Shinansan Line construction site," which resulted in three worker casualties.
Fifty officials from the Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Office, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency have been conducting searches from 9 a.m. at five locations, including POSCO E&C headquarters, the site office, and the construction site.
The ministry said it "will closely examine construction-related documents and accident history materials, as well as whether safety measures to prevent collapse during pump car operation for concrete pouring due to collisions with rebar were properly implemented," adding, "We will verify the subcontracting relationships between the prime contractor and subcontractors, work methods, and safety management systems, and if violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act are found, we will hold those responsible strictly accountable."
Earlier, on the 18th, at the Shinansan Line section 4-2 site at Yeouido Station in Seoul, rebar collapsed, burying seven people. In the accident, one worker died and two were injured.
