The Ministry of National Defense reaffirmed its position that it would not accept the request for a second state of emergency even if President Yoon were to return to his post following the impeachment ruling. Jeon Ha-kyu, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, responded to a question about what the Ministry's stance would be if President Yoon requested a second martial law, saying, "The position stated by the Vice Minister (Kim Seon-ho, acting Minister of National Defense) at the onset of the situation (December 3 martial law) remains valid."

Earlier, acting Minister Kim Seon-ho stated on December 6, three days after the December 3 martial law was declared, that regarding claims of "second martial law circumstances" raised at that time, "Even if there are requests for the declaration of martial law, the Ministry of National Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff will absolutely not accept this."
