The People Power Party distributed the first edition of a statement book containing major remarks by Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, on the 21st. The intention is to review the representative's inappropriate words and actions and to examine his governance philosophy and vision.
Kweon Seong-dong, the floor leader, noted during a National Assembly press briefing that he would share a booklet titled 'The 138 Shadows of Lee Jae-myung' this afternoon.
Kweon explained the background for the publication, saying, "It has been 100 days since I took on the role of floor leader today, but it is insufficient to chase after the contradictory words and political behavior accumulated by Representative Lee Jae-myung. Now, it is necessary for everyone to accurately record each of his remarks and clearly reveal the substance of how he has deceived the public and misled them."
He said, "Examining a politician's words and actions is an important criterion for predicting the direction of the nation they wish to create," adding, "While Representative Lee Jae-myung's remarks are scattered, when they come together, they form an extremely dangerous picture that shakes the foundation of the Republic of Korea."
The People Power Party plans to widely share the so-called 'Lee Jae-myung Controversial Statement Collection.' They also posted the statement book on the People Power Party website, emphasizing, "We plan to create a first edition and distribute one copy to each member. We can all verify how much the pragmatic, economic, growth, centrist conservative, and security remarks he made after the imposition of martial law and impeachment contradict his past statements and how much they have changed."
He continued, "I will ensure that all members of the People Power Party as well as many citizens can share this material, and I hope it helps everyone, especially party members and those who believe that they should not be like Lee Jae-myung, to more resolutely confront his irresponsible words and actions."
The material authored by the 'People Power Party Floor Leader's Office' is divided into 10 fields (economy, welfare, labor, rule of law, diplomacy, security, controversial remarks, political parties, disasters, censorship) and contains 138 remarks by the representative. The remarks span from his time as the mayor of Seongnam to recent expressions on public platforms or social media. The first introduction features his statement from the launch ceremony of the 'Finger Revolution Team' at the Gwangju Kim Dae-jung Convention Center on Jan. 15, 2017, where he said, "Today, I will stake my political life on the dissolution of the chaebol system." However, there are no separate interpretations of each remark included.
Kweon remarked in the book introduction, "With 29 instances of serial impeachment, 27 proposals for special counsel laws, and 38 inducements of the right to request re-examination, along with countless forced hearings on power abuse and the unilateral passage of budget cuts. This is a record of Lee Jae-myung's parliamentary dictatorship aimed solely at driving national affairs to catastrophe and inducing an early presidential election to seize the presidency," stating that this is a process of revisiting the representative's past remarks and examining what kind of future he envisions for the Republic of Korea.
