The People Power Party said on the 20th that the Constitutional Court decided to announce the verdict on the impeachment case of Prime Minister Han Duck-soo on the 24th, noting that it is "better late than never."
Kweon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party, met with reporters after the National Assembly plenary session this day, stating, "It has been a very long time since the argument was concluded, and it has been a long time since the deliberation ended, but it seems that the Constitutional Court postponed the verdict for political reasons and reluctantly set the date for Monday after facing public criticism."
He also stated, "I believe it will be a 100% dismissal."
Regarding the fact that the announcement date for the impeachment of Prime Minister Han was set before the verdict for President Yoon Seok-youl, he said, "It is only natural."
Floor leader Kweon stated, "If we compare the facts of the impeachment charges against Prime Minister Han and the President, the case against Prime Minister Han is straightforward, and the argument date was set just once and concluded. The argument was also concluded earlier," adding, "Considering all circumstances, it is entirely natural to set the announcement for Prime Minister Han first. There is no need to add a separate political interpretation to that."
With the announcement of the impeachment case against Prime Minister Han being set first, there are predictions in the political arena that it could also affect the impeachment trial of President Yoon. In response, floor leader Kweon remarked, "These are separate cases," but added, "I expect there will be good results in the impeachment case of the President."
Emergency countermeasure committee chairman Kwon Young-se also welcomed the early determination of the verdict date for Prime Minister Han, saying, "It was set sooner than expected, which is good." He continued, "Based on the last argument conclusion, I believe they first made substantive judgments," asking, "Can we expect the dismissal not to be correct?"
