The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's Trade Commission plans to decide on the final tariff for petrochemical products from China and Taiwan within the first half of the year.
The Trade Commission noted that it held a public hearing on the 20th regarding the impact on domestic industry caused by petrochemical products from China and Taiwan.
Previously, the Trade Commission made a preliminary determination on the 19th of last year that domestic industry was suffering due to the dumping of petrochemical imports from China and Taiwan and imposed a provisional anti-dumping tariff of 4.45 to 18.52%.
This public hearing was established to provide stakeholders ample opportunity to express their opinions and to ensure their right to defense, in accordance with Article 64 of the Tariff Act Enforcement Ordinance. A Trade Commission official said, "A final determination is expected to be made in the first half of this year after conducting local investigations both domestically and internationally."
On that day, the Trade Commission held its 458th meeting and received reports on two agenda items regarding the initiation of dumping investigations. Recently, the Trade Commission decided to initiate dumping investigations for "Hot-rolled products of carbon steel and alloy steel from China and Japan," filed by Hyundai Steel, and for "Single-mode optical fiber from China," filed by LS Cable & System.
