On the 15th, a rally opposing the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol was held in Gwanghwamun and Yeouido, organized by supporters of President Yoon. In Gumi, known as a conservative stronghold, ruling party lawmakers also attended a rally asserting that the impeachment of Yoon is invalid.
In Gwanghwamun, the Korea Restoration Movement Headquarters, led by Pastor Jeon Gwang-hoon, held a 'National Rally Against the Impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol' at 1 p.m. in the Gwanghwamun area of Jongno District. As of 2:30 p.m., police unofficial estimates indicated that 35,000 people had gathered.
All lanes of Sejong-daero from Donghwa Duty Free Shop to Daehanmun were blocked, and participants held signs reading 'Immediate return of Yoon Suk-yeol,' 'Dissolve the National Assembly,' as well as Taegeukgi and American flags, chanting 'Impeachment dismissed 8-0' and 'President Yoon Suk-yeol.'
The host read a letter from former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun, who claimed in the letter, "Let's reveal the evil deeds of the wicked and punish them in the name of the people."
Next to the rally site, a photo zone with a backdrop of President Yoon's picture was set up, allowing participants to take confirmation photos.
In front of Exit 5 of Gwanghwamun Station, banners featuring the faces of key figures from the opposition and ruling parties who support impeachment were installed; some rally participants stepped on them as they passed.
On the same day, a rally opposing impeachment was also held in Yeouido, Seoul. The conservative Protestant organization Save Korea held a national emergency prayer meeting near the National Assembly Station in Yeongdeungpo District. According to unofficial police estimates, 3,500 people sang hymns while chanting, "We must protect the Republic of Korea from communists," and "Impeachment invalid."
Park Dae-chul, a lawmaker from the People Power Party, emphasized, "Following the people's order and the spirit of the Constitution is a dismissal or rejection, and that is the way to continue the history of liberty, democracy, and the success of the Republic of Korea."
Some supporters continued to stage a sit-in in front of the Constitutional Court. Around 1:40 p.m., a man laid out a book by a former representative, leading to a confrontation with Yoon's supporters amid insults.
At the same time, the Protestant organization Save Korea also held a national emergency prayer meeting in front of Gumi Station at 1 p.m. Police estimates suggested around 10,000 participants, while the organizers estimated 20,000.
Attendees at the rally included lawmakers Na Kyung-won, Jang Dong-hyuk, Koo Ja-geun, Kang Myung-ku, and Lee Man-hee from the People Power Party, Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor Lee Cheol-woo, Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho, and prominent lecturer Jeon Han-gil. Lawmaker Na Kyung-won said, "With the fake memo from Hong Jang-won and fake testimony from Kwak Jong-geun, manipulation, coercion, and intimidation for inciting rebellion have begun," and added, "To end this rebellion farce, the impeachment must be dismissed." She further questioned, "Why isn’t the Constitutional Court reaching a conclusion on the obvious matter regarding the accomplice of Lee Jae-myung's Democratic Party's paralysis of the government?"
Governor Lee Cheol-woo remarked, "I'm unable to file a complaint because I don't know the fourth verse of the national anthem is part of the national anthem," and then sang the national anthem on stage.
Jeon Han-gil stated, "President Yoon Suk-yeol has not severely violated any laws and declared and lifted the martial law in accordance with the Constitution," and added, "Since President Yoon has not even been tried yet, applying the presumption of innocence means President Yoon is innocent."
