Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, actively refuted recent criticisms about the party’s shift to the right on the 14th, stating, 'A progressive government has never focused solely on distribution.'
During the appearance on the YouTube channel 'Lee Dong-hyung TV,' Lee noted, 'The frame that asserts conservatives are competent but corrupt and progressives are clean but incompetent has persisted for a long time. A progressive government naturally pursued growth.'
Previously, on the 10th, Lee emphasized growth in his representative speech at the National Assembly and proposed a vision of 'Well-being-ism.' This led to speculation within the political community that he might be shifting to the right with an early presidential election in mind.
In response, Lee emphasized, 'Progressives have always been attacked for only prioritizing distribution, for merely advocating sharing. I am being pushed to the right, but I haven't shifted. I was originally in my place.'
Regarding the criticism from the People Power Party about the rightward shift, he noted, 'The conservative government has begun to lose its agenda. They have taken the growth discourse from us.'
On reports that the Democratic Party is considering the establishment of a 'Special Committee for the Promotion of the Gaming Industry,' he stated, 'The gaming industry is actually one of the key industries for the future. During the Park Geun-hye administration, games were classified as addictive substances and heavily regulated, and we had a huge global market, but we are being outpaced by China. We need to revive it quickly.'
