The Ministry of National Defense reported on the 11th that it is estimated that North Korea has provided more than 200 long-range artillery pieces to Russia.
The Ministry of National Defense noted in a report submitted to the National Assembly's defense committee that "North Korea continues to provide weapons and ammunition after dispatching troops to the Ukraine war" and that it is engaging in "rhetorical condemnation and displays of military power" under the policy of "maximum capability response strategy." According to the Ministry of National Defense, North Korea has currently provided over 200 long-range artillery pieces, more than 11,000 troops, and a significant amount of ammunition, and there is a possibility of additional support.
The Ministry of National Defense said, "This year is the last year of North Korea's five-year defense development plan, and it will focus on enhancing nuclear and missile capabilities and modernizing conventional forces with support from Russia," adding that it is watching for the possibility of the transfer of advanced military technology, such as intercontinental ballistic missile re-entry and nuclear submarines, in exchange for Russian support.
Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump made friendly remarks about Kim Jong Un, the Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, but North Korea has not shown any separate response. However, Kim has publicly conducted missile launches and visited nuclear facilities, which the Ministry of National Defense analyzed as "an attempt to create a favorable environment in preparation for future U.S.-North Korea talks."
Regarding South Korea, it has been reported that North Korea continues to disrupt Global Positioning System (GPS) signals while observing the political situation in South Korea. Regarding the 12-3 state of emergency, it stated, "It is crucial to recognize the serious concerns from both domestic and international sources and to make intensive efforts to resolve them," adding that "it will gather all capabilities and efforts to focus on the tasks entrusted based on law and regulation."
