The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Aviation and Railroad Accident Investigation Committee (SARO) will conduct a site investigation of the AIR BUSAN fire passenger aircraft at Gimhae International Airport on April 3.
On 31st, SARO noted, "Due to the forecast for rain this weekend, the investigation has been postponed, and a site risk management assessment has been completed to ensure safety." The investigation was carried out by a joint investigation team involving SARO, the French Bureau d'Enquêtes et d'Analyses (BEA), the National Forensic Service, the police scientific investigation team, and the fire department.
Considering aircraft safety, SARO decided not to remove fuel during the investigation process. While the removal of fuel is one of the key safety measures in aviation accident investigations, the investigation will proceed with the fuel intact this time.
The joint investigation team conducted a 3D imaging session in the afternoon, followed by hazardous material removal operations, including the separation of emergency oxygen containers. A SARO official stated, "The equipment will be covered with a tarp for protection after filming is completed."
Meanwhile, the passenger checked baggage that was stored in the lower cargo hold at the time of the accident has been handed over to AIR BUSAN after a security inspection, and the passenger handover procedure is ongoing.
