The trade authorities of South Korea and China will hold the 10th follow-up negotiations on the FTA services and investment in Seoul, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 16th.

The negotiations, which will continue until the 17th, will include our chief negotiator Kwon Hye-jin from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Chen Zhiyang, Vice Minister of International Trade from China's Ministry of Commerce, as the chief representatives.

Since signing the FTA (which took effect in 2015), the two countries began follow-up negotiations on services and investment in March 2018 based on the 'guidelines for follow-up negotiations.' This 10th round of negotiations is the first official talks held after more than four years since the 9th official negotiations in 2020.

The government plans to accelerate discussions on improvements in services, investment, and financial sectors. Chief negotiator Kwon Hye-jin noted, “As the multilateral trading system weakens, the importance of bilateral free trade agreements between countries is being highlighted,” and added, “We will strive to maintain the momentum of negotiations by periodically holding official follow-up negotiations between South Korea and China.”
