The National Information Society Agency (NIA) and the Daegu Regional Procurement Office announced on the 28th that they have begun cooperation for the rapid execution of budgets to revitalize the economy and to strengthen anti-corruption and integrity.

The two agencies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the afternoon of the 27th at the NIA’s Daegu headquarters to support economic vitality recovery and build a procurement system based on integrity. This agreement was driven by government policies responding to increased domestic and external uncertainties affecting the livelihood economy, focusing on improving the order process for rapid budget execution and preventing unfair and corrupt practices in the bidding and contracting processes.

After signing the agreement, the two agencies decided to actively promote support for economic vitality recovery through rapid execution, mutual checks to prevent corruption and unfair activities, sharing of anti-corruption and integrity strengthening systems and cultural diffusion, support for the spread of public innovation procurement systems, and sharing and support of ICT innovation capabilities and technologies.

Based on this agreement, the NIA aims to order and execute more than 236.5 billion won worth of projects by the first half of the year, and to prevent unfair transaction practices, such as conflict of interest, during the project review and bidding processes, thereby supporting the revitalization and sound growth of the software industry.

NIA President Hwang Jong-sung noted, “This year, a foundation has been established for the stable advancement of government-wide projects such as the implementation of a common infrastructure for artificial intelligence, support for artificial intelligence service development, and the establishment of a DPG platform,” adding, “Through this, I expect to achieve service innovation that the public can feel, enhanced efficiency in administrative tasks, and solutions to various social issues.”
