ATON announced on the 27th that it will officially launch its authentication solution 'Quantum SafeGuard' utilizing post-quantum cryptography (PQC) technology.

Quantum SafeGuard combines the quantum-resistant algorithm 'ML-DSA' certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) with ATON's white-box encryption technology to counteract the potential for decryption by quantum computers and address existing hacking threats.

In light of predictions that quantum computers could impact existing public key cryptosystems, this solution was developed as a response to the security threat posed by the 'Harvest Now, Decrypt Later' method raised in the financial sector.

It supports mobile environments with Android 4.1.2 or higher, iOS 8.0 or higher, and browsers based on WebAssembly, and can operate on various server environments such as Linux, AIX, and HP-UX. The company explained that it applied a package method that utilizes existing APIs to reduce the burden of system transitions.

Before its release, ATON verified the functionality and performance of the authentication and signing system based on quantum-resistant cryptography according to industry-specific system environments, and also confirmed compatibility with RSA and ECDSA based systems. As a result, it secured a performance level exceeding that of existing solutions in terms of processing speed and security, and completed checks on defenses against illegal extraction and duplication of authentication keys.

ATON plans to expand the application of this solution beyond the financial sector to healthcare, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, public institutions, and the defense industry. It is reviewing the potential for use in various fields, including the protection of medical data in non-face-to-face medical environments, user authentication within production processes, and the application of authentication methods in defense information systems.

ATON CEO Woo Gil-soo noted, "As the possibility of introducing quantum computers is increasingly being raised, we plan to gradually expand the scope of application to meet security demands in various industrial environments."
