On the 17th, the National Intelligence Service reported that it has recommended the establishment of a cyber security system to the industry due to an increase in attempts to hack domestic drone development companies by international and domestic hacking organizations.

The National Intelligence Service reported that from the 13th to the 14th, it held a cyber security briefing in collaboration with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport at the Incheon Aviation Safety Technology Institute for related corporations, institutions, and associations.

According to the National Intelligence Service, hackers have attempted to infiltrate corporate intranets and steal drone development technology by disguising themselves as business associates and sending phishing emails, or by exploiting security vulnerabilities in information and communication technology (IT) solutions such as the centralized mail and document system used by drone development corporations.

While there has not been direct damage such as leakage of core technology, the need for corporations to establish their own cyber security systems has been highlighted, the National Intelligence Service noted.

In response, the National Intelligence Service reported checking the status of cyber security management for drone development companies in collaboration with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and the National Security Technology Research Institute in December last year, confirming multiple security vulnerabilities due to inadequate security systems and poor management.

At the briefing, the National Intelligence Service distributed a "cyber security management manual" to help corporations establish their own security frameworks.

A National Intelligence Service official said, "Drones are closely related to the national key industries of defense and space, so if a development company is hacked, there is a significant risk of national loss," and added, "We will continue to support security measures in collaboration with relevant agencies."
