Kakao Mobility announced on the 10th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with KTis to provide the '114 taxi call service' and will support mobility for digitally vulnerable groups. The company aims to strengthen platform accessibility through telephone consolidation for users, including seniors, who have difficulty using taxi apps, and is committed to expanding digital inclusivity.

Kakao Mobility and KTis held a signing ceremony on the 7th at the Kakao Mobility headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, attended by key executives, including Vice President An Gyu-jin of Kakao Mobility's business division and Park Woo-sik, the head of marketing at KTis. Through this agreement, Kakao Mobility plans to establish a web-based calling system to enhance the convenience of taxi calls by 114 consultants, while KTis intends to continuously enhance the service to facilitate smooth communication between users and consultants.

The '114 taxi call service' has been in pilot operation since September of last year. When users call 02-114 and provide their departure and destination information, a 114 consultant calls a taxi on their behalf through the 'Kakao T' platform. After the taxi is dispatched, the consultant informs the customer of the vehicle number and estimated arrival time to assist them in boarding the called taxi.

Kakao Mobility has been supporting digitally vulnerable groups such as the elderly, disabled, and low-income individuals who are not accustomed to using smartphones, enabling them to use taxi calling services more conveniently and smoothly.

The operating hours for the '114 taxi call service' are from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays. The service is available only in cases where both the departure and destination are in Seoul. Both companies plan to gradually expand the service area within the year.

An Gyu-jin, vice president of Kakao Mobility's business division, said, "I expect this agreement to be part of a win-win activity that enhances the mobility convenience for digitally vulnerable groups in the mobility sector," adding that "As a leading mobility platform corporation in the country, we plan to fulfill our social responsibility by contributing to bridging the 'digital divide' faced by the silver generation and others who have difficulties using the platform."
