Choi Won-jun, head of the Mobile Experience (MX) Division at Samsung Electronics, has been promoted to vice president. Samsung Electronics announced this personnel change through its internal network on the 4th, and Vice President Choi will continue to serve as the head of the MX Division following his promotion.

Vice President Choi has been actively pursuing AI smartphone strategies alongside Noh Tae-moon, head of the MX Division (president), who is known as 'Mr. Galaxy,' and it is believed he was promoted due to his contribution to the success of the Galaxy S24 and S25.

Meanwhile, President Noh was reappointed as an inside director at the board meeting on the 18th of last month, and there is a high possibility that his reappointment will be confirmed at the shareholders' meeting on the 19th.

The newly appointed president Choi, born in 1970, earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Seoul National University and obtained a doctorate from Stanford University. He later worked as a researcher at the Research Institute for Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), a senior engineer at Aseros Communications, CTO at Amicus Wireless, and a senior director at Qualcomm.

After joining Samsung Electronics in 2016, he served as the team leader of Strategic Product Development 1 in the Wireless Business Division and as the head of the Next Generation Product Development Team, and he has been serving as the head of the MX Division since December 2022.
