Kakao Games is implementing a 'relaxed work system,' 'unique welfare,' and 'customized education' to support employees' self-development and balanced lives.
According to industry sources on 4th, Kakao Games was the first in the industry to introduce the 'Nolgeum' system, allowing employees to recharge once a month since July 2018, and in response to high satisfaction levels, it expanded to a 'bi-weekly Nolgeum' in April 2021. In addition, it has a relaxed work system, including a 30-minute delayed start on Mondays, an early departure of 1 hour and 30 minutes on Fridays, and an extended lunch break of 1 hour and 30 minutes.
To support employees' vacation experiences more enjoyably and abundantly, it operates welfare systems such as dedicated camper van lending, free resort facilities, and resort memberships through 'Awesome Jeju.' Notably, 'Awesome Jeju,' which provides vacation opportunities in Jeju Island, offers free private accommodations owned by the company and grants an additional 1.5 days of vacation leave beyond official annual leave to employees using this program, receiving great feedback.
To create a healthy working environment, it operates a 'Cider Room' offering in-house sports massage, and supports employees to receive free consultations with experts up to eight times a year in areas like psychological counseling, financial concerns, and legal advice. Additionally, last year, in collaboration with Kakao Healthcare, it provided an artificial intelligence (AI)-based blood glucose measurement service.
Support for self-development and growth is also being strengthened. It provides self-development welfare points worth 3.6 million won annually and supports interest on loans of up to 300 million won at a rate exceeding 2.0%, alleviating employees' burdens regarding dwellings and living expenses. Furthermore, it operates a systematic job training program and offers expert lectures for acquiring the latest technologies such as generative AI and data literacy. This year, it plans to conduct advanced training courses to strengthen core competencies by job type.
A representative from Kakao Games noted, "We believe that creating a pleasant workplace and daily life can lead to fostering creative talent and enhancing work capabilities, so we operate various work, welfare, and education systems," adding that they will continue to seek programs that can enhance employee satisfaction.
Meanwhile, Kakao Games has been selected as an 'Outstanding Company for Work-Life Balance in 2024' by the government and economic organizations, and it regularly obtains certifications such as 'Family-Friendly Company Certification' led by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family since 2017 and 'Leisure-Friendly Company Certification' led by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism since 2022.
