On the 18th, LG Electronics announced its strategy to target the kitchen interior market by enhancing space efficiency with the 'LG DIO Objet Collection Refrigerator Fit & Max,' which mimics the effect of built-in appliances.

Fit & Max is a refrigerator that minimizes the gap between the refrigerator and the wall with LG Electronics technology. It can be installed with a spacing of just 4mm, which is the thickness of two 500 won coins.

The depth of the refrigerator is designed to fit the standard depth of furniture in Korea (700mm), allowing it to protrude minimally and create an interior look as if a built-in refrigerator had been installed from the beginning.

LG Electronics named the product Fit & Max because it can provide a cohesive design that feels like a built-in installation from the start while effectively utilizing space.

To achieve this, LG Electronics applied a new hinge technology (zero clearance) to Fit & Max. The zero clearance hinge is a component that assists in opening and closing the door; typically, a refrigerator door rotates around a single hinge axis connected to the body. When the refrigerator door is fully opened, it protrudes beyond the body, necessitating a gap between the refrigerator and the adjacent furniture.

In contrast, Fit & Max uses a hinge that creates a path for the refrigerator door to rotate inward when opened, allowing for installation flush against the cabinetry without hitting the wall at maximum opening.

By applying advanced front heat dissipation technology that draws in air from the front and expels it, the gap with the back is also minimized. This allows the refrigerator to efficiently release heat while maintaining energy efficiency, even with minimized space between surrounding cabinets.

LG Electronics accelerates its strategy for the global built-in market by adding Fit & Max to its lineup of built-in products. According to market research firm Euromonitor, the global built-in market size is estimated to reach $64.5 billion (approximately 93 trillion won) by 2025.

Baek Seung-tae, head of LG Electronics' Kitchen Solutions division (vice president), noted, 'It will be the best choice for customers seeking a highly refined and tidy kitchen interior.'
