Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced on the 17th that it is operating 'S-CUBE,' a program that focuses on nurturing in-house startups. The goal is to create a corporate culture where employees can freely share ideas and discover new growth engines through this initiative.

Chairman Jang Deok-hyun of Samsung Electro-Mechanics noted, “Without challenges, there can be no achievements or new technologies. Even if we fail, let’s boldly take on challenges.”

Any employee can apply for S-CUBE, and once selected, they can focus solely on project development away from their main work, receiving support funds of 100 million won and independent space.

Ideas can be proposed in future promising industries such as electric vehicles, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), servers, and energy.

After one year, the final project presentation will be held under the supervision of management, where business value and other factors will be evaluated to decide on follow-up support such as transfer to a business unit or startup. If there are no follow-up actions, employees can return to their original departments.

Since its start in November 2022, more than 100 employees have proposed ideas. Among over 40 submitted ideas, several teams were selected for S-CUBE and received program support.

One team successfully transferred technology to a business unit and has entered the mass production verification stage, while two teams are enhancing their technology through continuous research and development.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics stated, “We will continue to pursue the discovery of new business ideas from our employees and actively support the development of selected excellent ideas into new businesses to create future growth engines.”
