KT Skylife announced on the 7th that it recorded an operating loss of 5.633 billion won based on its consolidated financial statements for the fourth quarter of 2024, marking a return to the deficit. Revenue was 256.987 billion won, down 1.8% from the previous year. KT Skylife explained that this was due to increased expenses from the amortization of intangible assets of its subsidiary, Skylife TV, and a one-time cost increase related to the human resources restructuring at subsidiary HCN, including the implementation of a voluntary retirement program.
On the other hand, KT Skylife achieved good results on its own. According to its separate financial statements, operating profit was 4.628 billion won, up 30.7% compared to the same period last year. Revenue was 174.873 billion won, a decrease of 1.8% from the previous year.
As of the fourth quarter, annual revenue based on consolidation reached 1.0229 trillion won, marking three consecutive years of over 1 trillion won in sales since 2022.
The total number of subscribers for KT Skylife was 5.75 million, down 1% (60,000 people) from the previous year; however, the number of subscribers for mobile and internet services increased by 13.8% (50,000 people) and 11.9% (50,000 people), respectively, compared to the previous year. The bundling rate of new mobile and internet subscribers with TV services reached 41%.
Jo Il, Chief Financial Officer of KT Skylife, noted that "the number of mobile and internet subscribers is steadily increasing, and with good ratings for the ENA channel, the market share for advertising on Skylife TV is also continuously growing" and stated, "In the future, we will increase shareholder value by focusing on profitable customer acquisition and expanding subscribers for the triple play service (TPS) that combines TV, internet, and mobile services."
