On the 6th, Samsung Electronics announced a 6G white paper titled "AI Integration and Sustainable Communication Services" that outlines trends and directions for next-generation mobile communication technology.
This white paper presents research directions for 6G, reflecting changes in the external environment such as the demands of telecommunications operators and users, the development of AI technology, and standardization trends. In the 6G era, technological advancements are essential for increasing data traffic and enhancing user experience, and new services are expected to emerge, including immersive extended reality (XR), digital twins, massive communication, consolidation, and fixed wireless access.
To address this, Samsung Electronics proposed four key themes: ▲ AI integration ▲ energy efficiency enhancement ▲ coverage expansion ▲ next-generation security. The plan includes applying the latest AI technologies to communication systems to improve network quality and create a sustainable user experience. Furthermore, the company aims to lead global 6G standardization activities and promote the development of 6G technologies tailored to new market demands, leveraging the experience gained from 5G commercialization.
Charlie Chang, executive director of Samsung Research's Next-Generation Communication Research Center, noted, "Samsung Electronics is accelerating its 6G research in consideration of the importance of AI-based communication technologies and sustainable networks,” and added, “We plan to develop technologies that meet market demands in the 6G standardization efforts that will officially commence this year.”
