Naver Cloud announced on the 20th that its personal file storage cloud service "MYBOX" has surpassed 2 million paid users.

Launched in 2009, "MYBOX" has become a leading storage service in South Korea with a cumulative user base of 33.5 million and a total of 122 billion files stored. Notably, the service allows users to easily share and collaborate on large quantities of various file types, including Hangul, PDF, and PSD, resulting in 2.3 million users collaborating through its sharing features and over 130,000 users sharing storage with family and friends.

The company explained that the rapid doubling of paid subscribers in the past two years is due to an increase in the personal shooting of photos and videos, contributing to a 9% annual rise in the average size of files as file quality has improved. It also noted a heightened consumer awareness regarding personal storage purchases, influenced by the MZ generation's lifestyle of recording daily life through videos and photos. In fact, 66% of paid users of "MYBOX" are in their 20s and 30s.

"MYBOX" ranked first in the category of "most used cloud services" in the Korean Media Panel Survey conducted by the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) for three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023. Furthermore, according to the Mobile Index, it has maintained the top position in the number of new installations each month from January to December last year, leading the personal cloud market.

"MYBOX" is also committed to enhancing user convenience and continuous service improvement. It offers the largest free storage capacity (30 GB) compared to competitors and provides the most diverse range of pricing plans, broadening user choice. Additionally, it presents differentiated services with features like integration with Naver accounts, membership benefits, and the addition of AI capabilities.

Last June, it launched a corporate-exclusive "Naver Works Drive" that meets the security levels required by corporations while enabling real-time collaborative document work with colleagues, expanding its service domain.

To celebrate surpassing 2 million paid users of "MYBOX," Naver Cloud will hold the "What's in MYBOX" event from Jan. 20 to Feb. 10. Participants can share photos or videos containing special moments with "MYBOX" along with their stories on the "MYBOX" official blog, and will have a chance to win prizes through a lottery.
