A majority of Americans view President Donald Trump's early administration's border and immigration policies positively, but they express dissatisfaction with economic policies and price management, according to a poll released on the 16th (local time).
According to a poll conducted by NBC with pollsters Hart Research and Public Opinion Strategies from the 7th to the 11th among 1,000 voters nationwide (margin of error ±3.1 percentage points), 44% of respondents said they 'support' President Trump's economic policies, which falls short of a majority. Meanwhile, 54% said they do not 'support' them.
NBC noted, "In our own polling, President Trump has never received majority opposition regarding economic management (including his first term)," pointing out that President Trump is facing a confusing market and industrial situation due to his tariff policy.
Regarding inflation and cost of living responses, 55% of respondents indicated they do not support it, while 42% said they do. For foreign policy and the Russia-Ukraine war issue, the responses of support were 45% and 42%, respectively, falling short of a majority. Only border security and immigration policy had support opinions of 55%, making it the only one among the five major national policy issues to exceed half.
In the judgment item regarding the current economic situation, positive evaluations were low at 18% ('very good' 1% · 'good' 17%). NBC assessed that, although the positive evaluation of the economic situation is somewhat higher than during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown measures under the administration of Joe Biden in 2022, excluding that period, it represents the lowest level according to their national polling since 2014.
Regarding President Trump's overall performance in office, 47% expressed support, which is 4 percentage points lower than the 51% who do not support him, but NBC explained that this is the highest level recorded during his term, including his first term.
However, it added that compared to early support ratings of past presidents, this remains significantly low.
