A bomb attack in southwestern Pakistan has resulted in 40 casualties.
According to AFP and local media on the 16th, a bus carrying the Pakistani border guards exploded, killing at least 5 and injuring 35.
At the time, 7 buses of border guards were moving. The incident occurred when a vehicle carrying explosives crashed into the border guard bus.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist militant group active in Balochistan, claimed responsibility for this suicide bombing. The BLA also previously blew up a railway in Balochistan on the 11th, halting a train with over 400 passengers and taking hostages.
Balochistan shares borders with Afghanistan and Iran and is rich in various mineral resources. Foreign investment, including from China, is being poured into its development. The BLA and other separatist militant groups claim that the Pakistani government and foreign capital are exploiting local resources, prompting their acts of terrorism.
