Tata Daewoo Mobility welcomes a new leader.
Kim Tae-seong has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer and will officially take office on April 14.
Former CEO Kim Bang-sin is retiring at the mandatory retirement age of 65, based on Tata Group HR Policy, but will continue to serve as an advisor to the board after retirement. Former CEO Kim has led the company since 2019, leaving behind various management achievements after successfully completing a six-year term.
Kim Tae-seong, the new Chief Executive Officer, was born in 1967 and has approximately 30 years of experience in global sales strategy, product marketing, and digital business since joining Hyundai Motor in 1993.
Kim has held key positions in Hyundai Motor, including head of global sales support, head of product management at the U.S. subsidiary/North America region, head of the overseas product planning team in the overseas sales department, and at Beijing Hyundai Motor, gaining experience in sales planning and marketing in major overseas markets such as North America and China. In particular, he has demonstrated leadership in global sales and profit improvement, as well as in expanding the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) business.
Additionally, in 2024, he served as vice president at Renesas Electronics Korea, overseeing the Strategic Automotive Sales OEM sector.
A representative from Tata Daewoo Mobility noted, "Kim Tae-seong, the new Chief Executive Officer, is the right person to secure new growth engines for Tata Daewoo based on over 30 years of global field experience and strategic insight," and added, "In the rapidly changing commercial vehicle industry's paradigm, we expect him to further strengthen the company's future competitiveness through electrification, autonomous driving, the expansion of eco-friendly products, and the establishment of data-driven revenue models."
Former CEO Kim Bang-sin has been actively pursuing new vehicle development and a profitability-centered management since taking office in February 2019, despite the sluggish domestic and international truck markets. In particular, the launch of the LCV new model 'The Sen' in 2020 and the launch of the medium and large trucks 'Max Sen' and 'Gu Sen' in 2021 established the 'Sen' truck lineup, reinforced the response to eco-friendly vehicles, changed the company name, and laid the foundation for future growth through the establishment of a new brand strategy.
