Italian luxury car brand Maserati has opened the Officine Fuoriserie Maserati workshop for the most sophisticated customization in its brand history and unveiled the MC20 Cielo Fuoriserie model 'Less is More…?' to commemorate the occasion.
Maserati's customization program, Fuoriserie, is the culmination of craftsmanship, allowing customers to complete their vehicles in their unique style by customizing every element from exterior color to interior materials and finishing details with dedicated designers. Fuoriserie is divided into two main categories: 'Corse' and 'Futura' collections, which offer a 'Catalogue' with thousands of combinations and a 'Bespoke' model made to order based on customer requests.
The Fuoriserie program begins with ongoing consultations with dedicated designers. After the consultation, orders are received, and preparation and quality checks for manual painting occur in the existing paint area, followed by a move to the newly opened Officine Fuoriserie Maserati for high-tech painting. Once this is completed, the process concludes with washing, robotic painting and drying, and a dual thermoplastic process at 80°C.
The Officine Fuoriserie Maserati, which performs cutting-edge painting, was established at the factory on Viale Ciro Menotti in Modena, Italy. This space perfectly blends advanced technology with intricate craftsmanship, with painting for the Grecale, GranTurismo, GranCabrio, MC20, and GT2 Stradale models taking place there. Particularly, it provides a wide range of liveries inspired not only by various color options but also by the brand's racing and heritage DNA.
Covering a total area of 4,000 square meters, it operates more than 20 workstations daily, capable of processing up to 24 vehicles in one day. When the production line operates at maximum capacity, up to 110 specialized personnel are deployed, with 40 of them having undergone special training to ensure the highest quality of the vehicles.
Maserati celebrated the opening of the Officine Fuoriserie Maserati by unveiling the MC20 Cielo Fuoriserie model 'Less is More...?'. This model is a unique vehicle that encapsulates the essence of customization. The design elements were customized with inspiration drawn from 'Bauhaus,' completed with a dedicated livery and a special body color featuring delicate details and handcrafted processes.
The exterior is characterized by a geometric pattern that connects the front and rear of the vehicle. Just as Bauhaus pursued simple and abstract forms for a clean aesthetic, Maserati has shaped its trident logo with dots, lines, triangles, and squares applied onto a Blu Corse Matte color body.
The geometric pattern features colors that reinterpret the classic color tones of Bauhaus, such as 'Rosso Capannelle Gloss,' used in the brand's first race car, the 'Giallo Avia Pervia Gloss', reminiscent of the Modena emblem, and 'Arancio Devil,' honoring the first woman to compete in the F1 Grand Prix driving a Maserati 250F, Maria Teresa de Filippis.
Additionally, 20-inch wheels featuring blue classic brake calipers complete the exterior, with each wheel catching the eye with a unique color combination of red, yellow, blue, and white.
The interior also features an artistic combination of various colors. Like the rich and contrasting colors sought after by Bauhaus professors Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee, the Bianco Gloss colored Trident logo and specialized badges add intense presence.
Santo Ficili, Maserati's CEO, noted, 'Paying careful attention to detail and to customer requirements is a differentiating factor for Maserati, and the new Officine Fuoriserie Maserati is a value that embodies the brand spirit and a new history honoring the tradition of craftsmanship and innovation.' He added that 'this is a significant investment in the Modena factory and its employees, while also strengthening solidarity with local communities and creating new opportunities for the growth of the brand.'
