Doosan Enerbility will supply Southern Power Generation with a large-scale H-class gas turbine with a capacity of 380 megawatts (MW) and a steam turbine, as well as a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), by 2028. The contract includes emergency response obligations for immediate action in the event of abnormal signs, as well as regular training services to enhance the technical capabilities of the power company. The company explained that the partnership covers all phases, from supply of main equipment to operation, maintenance, and training.

Southern Power Generation decided to repurchase based on its experience operating the country's first gas turbine at the Gimpo Combined Heat and Power Plant for over 15,000 hours. Doosan Enerbility succeeded in localizing large gas turbines for power generation in 2019. It jointly developed a 380 MW-class Korean standard gas combined-cycle model with more than 340 domestic research institutes and companies.

The Yeosu Natural Gas Power Plant will be constructed in the Myodo Harbor redevelopment area in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province, with a scale of 500 MW. The Yeosu Natural Gas Power Plant is an eco-friendly power plant that will replace an aging power plant (Taean Unit 3) according to the government's basic power supply plan and aims to achieve the highest power generation efficiency in the country through a standard combined-cycle demonstration project.

The contract signing ceremony, held at Signiel in Songpa-gu, Seoul, was attended by Jeong Yeon-in, vice chairman of Doosan Enerbility; Son Seung-woo, head of the Power Services Business Group; and Lee Jeong-bok, president of Southern Power Generation. Vice Chairman Jeong noted, “I feel very meaningful and grateful that Southern Power Generation, having validated performance through actual operations, has chosen Doosan Enerbility's gas turbines again.”
