SM Group's SM Hi-Plus announced on the 25th that it will expand the online purchase channels for its Hi-Pass card to Naver and Lotte Mart Mall.
Until now, the Hi-Pass card could only be purchased at offline channels such as highway service areas or convenience stores, the SM Hi-Plus website, and Coupang.
SM Hi-Plus sells one automatic recharge card for 6,000 won at its own store on Naver Smart Store, and offers free shipping and a 10% discount for purchases of two or three cards or more.
Ahn Byung-hyun, head of the card business division at SM Hi-Plus, noted, “This online channel restructuring will greatly enhance the convenience, simplicity, and speed of purchasing cards.”
The SM Hi-Plus Hi-Pass automatic recharge card has no annual fee or expiration date, allowing it to be used continuously even when changing vehicles, as long as it is inserted into the device. It is used by 4 million people annually in the country. SM Hi-Plus holds a patent for automatically recharging the card to a pre-set amount when the card balance falls below a certain level while passing through highway Hi-Pass gates. A new card based on a mobile app is set to be released next month.
