Hyundai Motor anticipates that this event will establish an organic hydrogen cooperation system between the two countries, accelerating the development of a global hydrogen industry ecosystem and the expansion of the hydrogen market.

Hyundai Motor plans to establish practical cooperation measures, including the development and establishment of international standards for hydrogen technology, demonstration projects for hydrogen production technologies such as ammonia cracking (extracting hydrogen by breaking down ammonia), and the introduction of competitive hydrogen-related parts.

The event will be attended by five Korean National Assembly members, including Joo Ho-young, the Vice Speaker of the National Assembly and President of the Korea-Japan Parliamentarians Association; Lee Jong-bae, co-chairman of the National Assembly Hydrogen Economy Forum; and lawmakers Kim So-hee, Park Sung-hoon, and Park Chung-kwon.

On the Japanese side, seven officials will attend, including Yoshihide Suga, president of the Japan-Korea Parliamentarians Association and former Prime Minister; Akihisa Nagashima, secretary-general of the Japan-Korea Parliamentarians Association; and lawmakers Hideki Miyauchi, Kaname Tajima, Yoshihiro Kawano, Shozo Kudo, and Masahiro Gohmura.

In the private sector, individuals accompanying include the Secretary-General of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Kim Sang-hyup, the President of the Korea Hydrogen Association (H2KOREA) Kim Jae-hong, and Hyundai Motor.

During the event, attendees are expected to go through scheduled activities including visiting the Tokyo Tower hydrogen charging station, an exchange of opinions on hydrogen energy between the Korea-Japan and Japan-Korea Parliamentarians Associations, a hydrogen meeting at Kawasaki City Hall, and a tour of hydrogen facilities at Chiyoda Corporation, as well as a visit to the liquefied hydrogen terminal at Kobe Port.

The lawmakers from both countries agreed to specify cooperation on future initiatives, including the unification of clean hydrogen recognition criteria, leading the standardization of hydrogen charging technology, compatibility of hydrogen-related product certification between the two countries, and the joint development of hydrogen production technologies.

A Hyundai Motor representative said, “Korea and Japan are countries that possess world-class hydrogen technology,” and added, “Through this visit event, we expect the two countries to create a foundation for maximizing mutual synergy.”
