The Suncheon plant, which produces cold-rolled steel plates for Hyundai Steel, will enter a partial strike for two days on the 6th and 7th. The Hyundai Steel Dangjin plant, which is responsible for cold-rolled production, is also not operating normally due to the strike and workplace closure.

According to the steel industry on the 5th, the Hyundai Steel union decided to hold a partial strike for 8 hours each day at the 1CGL (melted zinc plating line), 2CGL, and 3CGL facilities at the Suncheon plant on the 6th and 7th.

The Hyundai Steel Suncheon plant is a factory that produces cold-rolled steel plates, with a production capacity of 2 million tons. Cold-rolled steel plates are essential industrial materials used in the manufacture of automobiles, home appliances, and industrial machinery.

Earlier, on January 22nd, the Hyundai Steel union halted cold-rolled production at the Dangjin plant due to a strike. In response to the union's strike, management has implemented a workplace closure at the rolling equipment of the cold-rolled plant at the Dangjin steelworks since the 24th of last month.

A workplace closure refers to the action taken by an employer to shut down a factory or workplace to enforce their claims when labor disputes arise. Hyundai Steel is expected to face difficulties in cold-rolled production due to the partial strike and workplace closure at the Dangjin and Suncheon plants.

Since last September, the Hyundai Steel management and union have been engaged in collective bargaining for wage negotiations, but have been unable to narrow their differences over the basic salary increase proposal and bonuses.
