Honda Global has set a goal to achieve 'zero' traffic accident fatalities related to Honda cars and motorcycles worldwide by 2050. Korea is no exception to this goal.

As part of this initiative, the 'Honda Education Center' will open in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province. It is a key facility for achieving 'zero' traffic accident fatalities. Especially since motorcycles in our country are a blind spot for safety education, such facilities are even more crucial.

Honda Korea (CEO Lee Ji-hong) will officially open the 'Honda Education Center,' the first and largest motorcycle safe driving education institution among domestic imported car brands, on March 5.

Honda aims to achieve 'zero' traffic accident fatalities related to Honda cars and motorcycles worldwide by 2050 as part of its global vision. Since establishing the Safe Driving Promotion Headquarters in Japan in 1970, it has been operating safe driving centers and various safe driving promotion activities based on its global safety vision across the world, including the Asia region.

The Honda Education Center was established as the 43rd global hub of Honda's safe driving activities under the slogan 'Safety For Everyone' for all on the road, including vehicle drivers and pedestrians, as part of this global vision. It aims to expand mature safety awareness and motorcycle culture while preventing accidents related to motorcycles by providing consumers with proper, safe, and enjoyable riding methods.

The Honda Education Center has been certified as an authorized academy facility providing motorcycle safe driving education, being the first and largest of its kind among domestic imported car brands. Located in Sujeong-ri, Bubal-eup, Icheon City, Gyeonggi Province, it is accessible within an hour from Seoul and the metropolitan area. The facility covers a total area of approximately 2,400 pyeong, including an outdoor training area of about 1,200 pyeong and a two-story building of about 550 pyeong, boasting the largest scale for motorcycle safe driving education facilities in the country.

The first floor consists of comfortable customer reception and lounges, fitting zones, locker rooms, and convenience facilities, as well as space for storing over 60 training motorcycles ranging from low to high displacement. Trainees visiting the Honda Education Center can borrow all sizes of safety gear such as helmets, protective gear, and boots free of charge and can comfortably wear cleanly maintained safety gear in the fitting zone on the first floor. The second floor is equipped with shower facilities for customer convenience, and there are five expandable classrooms where theoretical education on various safety knowledge and training content is conducted before practical training begins for the trainees.

The Honda Education Center provides systematic step-by-step training based on the proven educational curriculum of global Honda under the guidance of four skilled Korean instructors who have completed 'Honda Safety Instructor Training' and obtained related qualifications in Japan.

The training consists of a total of five courses. The introductory Beginner Scooter course is suitable for customers who are inexperienced with basic driving, while the Beginner Manual course provides basic training necessary for manual motorcycle riding, targeting customers who are not familiar with starting, stopping, and shifting gears—covering vehicle inspections, riding posture, turning, and braking practices.

The intermediate and advanced Town Rider course is designed for customers who are skilled in starting, stopping, and shifting gears, providing education on fundamental riding techniques such as warming up, various slaloms, and low-speed balance. The intermediate and advanced Tour Rider and Technical Rider courses can be taken by those who have completed the lower-level courses, focusing on advanced riding techniques for more confident and skilled driving, as well as training to master precise and delicate technical riding.

The Honda Education Center operates five days a week from Wednesday to Sunday, with operating hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A dedicated website for safe driving education applications has been launched, and the education cost is uniform at 270,000 won for all courses. For customer convenience in using public transportation, shuttle vehicles are operated from Bubal Station on the Gyeonggang Line to the Honda Education Center.

The 'Honda Training Center' located in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, has been integrated and transferred to the Honda Education Center. The Honda Training Center offers technical training and technician training for technicians and service advisors at domestic official Honda car and motorcycle service centers, as well as service advisor training to improve customer service quality and will be operated in synergy with the Honda Education Center to achieve overwhelming customer satisfaction.

Lee Ji-hong, CEO of Honda Korea, noted, 'Honda's sincerity about safety starts from the basic philosophy of respect for humanity and the three joys,' adding, 'In particular, the idea of respecting humanity is the origin of safe driving promotion activities that focus solely on people, from the development of safe products to teaching customers the correct riding methods and safety knowledge.' He further stated, 'Through the Honda Education Center, we will do our best to contribute to the sustainable growth of motorcycle culture in Korea with the goal of achieving zero traffic accident fatalities worldwide.'
