Kiwoom Securities announced on the 20th that it will hold a donation marathon event in celebration of Disability Day.
The event, named "2025 Kiwoom Run," will be held next month on the 19th near the Water Stage in Yeouido Hangang Park, Seoul. The nonprofit organization "Muui" will organize the event, and Kiwoom Securities will participate as the main sponsor, covering the event expenses.
Starting today, the official Kiwoom Run website will accept the first 2025 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. There are two course options: 5 km and 10 km, with a participation fee of 25,000 won.
Kiwoom Securities will also donate an amount equal to the participation fee in full to the nonprofit organization Muui. The donations will be used for projects to improve awareness of disabilities.
On the day of the Kiwoom Run, cultural performances and events will also be held. Actress Go Min-si, the model for Kiwoom Securities, will participate in a stage greeting and starting ceremony in the first part of the event. In the second part, the band Crying Nut will perform on stage. Other programs include ▲ roulette events ▲ tattoo sticker experiences ▲ sports taping.
Kiwoom Securities will also offer a total of 20 million won worth of domestic and U.S. stocks to participants through a lottery and other means. Attendees who visit the Kiwoom Securities booth and access the QR code will receive souvenirs. Those who open new tax-saving accounts (brokerage-type ISA or retirement savings) will also receive sports socks and an investment support fund of 10,000 won.
Kiwoom Securities explained that the Kiwoom Run was organized based on its management philosophy of being a corporation that contributes to solving social problems. CEO Eom Joo-seong of Kiwoom Securities noted, "We empathized with the situation where it is still difficult to see people with disabilities, even in the increasingly popular running culture with lower entry barriers, and thus decided to become a sponsor," adding that "Kiwoom Securities will continue to strive to solve various social issues in the future."
The organizing nonprofit Muui was established with the intention of "making disabilities meaningless" and has conducted various projects, including the production of ▲ a first-floor access map for everyone ▲ a wheelchair map ▲ a map for people with disabilities for transferring in the Seoul subway. The organization has received awards such as the Seoul Transportation Culture Award, the Korean Disability Rights Award, and the Minister of Science and ICT's commendation.
