Group Newbeat has thrown down the gauntlet in the K-pop scene with fierce energy characteristic of newcomers.

Newbeat held a showcase on the afternoon of the 24th at Ilji Art Hall in Gangnam, Seoul, to celebrate the release of their first full album 'RAW AND RAD' and spoke about the album.

Newbeat, a group presented by Beat Interactive after eight years, consists of seven members, including Park Min-seok from Mnet's 'Boys Planet' and Jeon Yeoyoung from the group TO1, all of whom are Korean. They have already formed a global fandom by gaining word-of-mouth among K-pop fans through various busking tours both domestically and internationally, even before their debut.

The members said, “We are happy and thrilled to finally debut, a day that will be meaningful and unforgettable in our lives. We will show a wonderful image with the spirit and passion of a newcomer,” and added, “We have just been counting down the days until our debut, and it is hard to believe that we are actually debuting. We will show everything we have worked hard on with the members, sweating together. We will continue to grow and make ourselves known worldwide.”

In particular, Newbeat attracted attention by releasing a full album that includes two pre-released tracks, which is bold for a newcomer group. Newbeat's first full album 'RAW AND RAD' embodies the spirit of boys who continuously challenge themselves without fearing failure. Newbeat plans to convey the story of the brightest boys with unrestrained spirit and candid emotions.

Jeon Yeoyoung explained, “There are seven of us with various charms, so we found songs that match each of our individual charms. Thankfully, so many good songs came together, and we have uniquely debuted with a full album.”

The title track 'Flip the Coin' is a 90s traditional old school genre song that stands out with various sampling sounds, groovy yet powerful drums, and an addictive hook. It tells the story of the duality of the world, in which good and evil coexist like the two sides of a coin, from the perspective of boys.

The members said about the title track 'Flip the Coin,' “It has a theme of duality, and not only does it reference the two sides of a coin, but it also conveys the bold determination to turn the K-pop scene upside down.”

Earlier, Newbeat gained attention by pre-releasing the songs 'JeLLo' and 'HICCUPS'. They stated, “We checked with the members about the reaction, and after the music video was released, many commented that the visual aspects were great and that the members were unique. Hearing that has given us great strength. I think we can show our colors well with the pre-released tracks and the title track, and we hope many people will take an interest in our album.”

BTOB's Lim Hyun-sik participated in producing the track 'F.L.Y,' with Jo Yoon-hoo noting, “It was an honor to be able to participate in the recording as he is a senior we respect and admire. I was so honored that he helped with our album. He gave us a lot of feedback that has been very beneficial for us, and we still talk about Hyun-sik's advice among ourselves.”

When asked about Newbeat's unique strengths amid the recent influx of competitive groups debuting, Jeon Yeoyoung replied, “We have had the opportunity to go on busking tours overseas, and I think we can show differentiated performances that come from those experiences, as well as our determination and spirit. Additionally, while working as backup dancers for our seniors, we learned a lot about how they lead performances. I want to show a wonderful stage that doesn't seem believable for a newcomer.”

Finally, the members expressed their goals for the future, saying, “We plan to continue running tirelessly this year. Accordingly, we want to win rookie awards and aim for 1st place on music shows,” adding, “We have started our full-fledged activities, and we want to widely promote our name and music. We want to perform wherever there are stages.”
