The absurd motives for crime led to brutal incidents revealed in "Brave Cops 4."

In the 27th episode of the T-Cast E Channel program "Brave Cops 4," which aired on the 21st, Gwangju Western Police Station criminal support team Inspector Kim Jae-hong, former Commissioner Yoon Wai-chul of the scientific investigation team (KCSI), and Inspector Kim Jin-soo grants shared their case files from the investigations they solved themselves.

The first case introduced on that broadcast began with a shocking report that there was a young woman's corpse on the balcony of her home. The reporter lived with only her son, and the corpse was found in a hanger on the balcony close to her son's room. The victim was a 21-year-old woman, and the reporter stated that her son had come home with company associates about a year ago, and she recalled that he was with them at that time.

The son had been sentenced to 12 years in prison for murdering while attempting to rape a motel waitress 14 years ago and had previously received suspended sentences for assault and robbery, as well as multiple juvenile detention dispositions during school years. The investigation team tracked the son's whereabouts and confirmed that he had used his mother's vehicle to disappear and then traced the vehicle's license plate.

Additionally, the son's girlfriend was also reported missing. At that time, the reporter suggested that her son may have headed to Damyang, the area where he had previously escaped and been captured, and a team leader who was on duty spotted the suspect's vehicle in the opposite lane. After a dangerous chase, the son fled by hitting the police conducting a road check and was dramatically apprehended while running into a rice field.

However, shortly after his arrest, the son made a significant remark that there was someone else in the car, and ultimately, the girlfriend's corpse was found in the trunk, adding shock to the situation. The son claimed that he intended to commit a sexual crime with a former colleague and that he attempted suicide alongside his girlfriend because he loved her. In the end, he was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The next case introduced by KCSI began with a wife's report stating that her husband had been out saying he was going to the neighboring town and had not been in contact for several days. Right after leaving, the husband withdrew 3 million won in cash, and the last signal from his mobile phone was captured in an industrial area dense with abandoned factories before it was turned off. The next day, while searching with acquaintances, the wife found his vehicle in a public parking lot next to the market. Inside the trunk, there were paper boxes lined up, and behind them, her husband's corpse was discovered. The corpse had a black plastic bag over his head, and both arms were bound behind his back, with his head covered in blood and several wounds. At the time, there were no CCTV or witnesses, making it difficult to identify the perpetrator, and it was learned that the paper boxes in the trunk had been out of production for eight years.

During the inquiry investigation, information was obtained that the victim had been gambling with Hwa-tu under the market-side bridge. Local elderly residents recognized him upon seeing his photograph. Meanwhile, the then investigation chief noted that this case was similar to an unsolved case from a year ago. That case involved a 60-year-old man's corpse found wrapped in a rice sack next to a military airfield, and evidence was difficult to secure due to the time elapsed since the death. In both cases, the victims had crushed skulls, were frequent gamblers appearing under the market-side bridge, and had withdrawn cash just before disappearing, with the last cell tower locations being the same.

The investigation team confirmed that a 60-year-old male suspect from a year ago was living near the last cell tower and began searching for him. Detectives found the same type of paper box as in the trunk in the storage room of his house and discovered an axe suspected to have been used in the crime, along with luminol reactions throughout the house. The suspect was apprehended while gambling under the market-side bridge.

Initially denying the crimes, the suspect ultimately confessed when confronted with evidence and also admitted to the incident from a year ago. He claimed that his life was ruined because of the victims and revealed that 10 years ago, after losing money to the victims while gambling under the market-side bridge, he felt they approached him to target his money, leading him to decide to kill them. The 5 million won in cash that the victims had was revealed to have been squandered in an adult arcade, adding to the absurdity, and he was ultimately sentenced to life imprisonment.
