Kim Byung-hyun, who confessed to being in debt by 30 billion won, is generating laughter due to a heated debate over the "Hawaiian set price" of his newly opened Yangjae branch hamburger shop.
KBS 2TV's "Boss's Ears Are Donkey Ears" (directed by Ahn Sang-eun, hereinafter "Sadangui") is a self-reflective program for South Korean bosses aimed at creating a workplace that is enjoyable to work in. The last episode, 297, recorded a peak rating of 7.5% and a 2049 rating of 1.6%, maintaining the number one spot in entertainment for 146 consecutive weeks during the same time slot (based on Nielsen Korea).
In the upcoming episode 298, airing on the 23rd (Sunday), professional bankrupt Kim Byung-hyun will have Park Myung-soo visit his recently opened Yangjae hamburger shop for an urgent inspection. Kim Byung-hyun revealed last year that he had incurred a loss of 200 million won over three years and that he closed his hamburger shop, but this time he opened the Yangjae branch in the underground food court of Yangjae-dong for what he called his last challenge, raising concerns among many. In response, Park Myung-soo will act as the special lifesaver to help Kim Byung-hyun.
Upon the arrival of Park Myung-soo, a moved Kim Byung-hyun begins to make hamburgers himself for Myung-soo. However, as he struggles even to grill patties properly, Park Myung-soo's worries start to escalate from the very beginning. When Park Myung-soo complains, "You should come out quickly, but time is passing by slowly," Jeon Hyun-moo responds, "It's also a problem if many customers come," to which Park Myung-soo retorts, "That's because I’ve never had many customers."
Noticing the situation, Kim Byung-hyun asks Park Myung-soo, "Should I get you some french fries?" Park Myung-soo responds with a sarcastic remark, asking, "If you give them to me, wouldn’t I eat them?" Kim Byung-hyun then turns into a slow-witted person, asking, "Are you saying you wouldn’t eat them if I gave them to you?" Frustrated, Park Myung-soo reminds him, "I ordered a set," bringing his menu back to attention. Finally realizing that Park Myung-soo's menu was a set, Kim Byung-hyun exclaims, "Oh no, it was a set!" and belatedly tries to get the french fries, showcasing his inadequate management as a hamburger shop owner.
Park Myung-soo happily comments, "It’s delicious. It's even better than expensive hamburgers," and then inquires, "What’s the set price?" Kim Byung-hyun hesitates and states, "It’s 11,500 won." At that moment, Kim Sook, who was in the studio, notes, "When I asked last time, the price was all wrong,” initiating price verification. Contrary to Kim Byung-hyun's statement, the confirmed price of the "Hawaiian set" is 12,100 won, a price that even the hamburger shop owner was unaware of.
As a result, Jeon Hyun-moo, Kim Sook, Park Myung-soo, and Lee Soon-sil, along with everyone gathered in the studio, quickly engage in a heated debate reminiscent of flames bursting from logs. Park Myung-soo excitedly remarks, "I’ve seen prices in the 900 won range on home shopping, but this is the first time I've seen something for 100 won." Jeon Hyun-moo comments, "12,100 won gives an impression of it being much more expensive," while Kim Sook chimes in, "What does that 100 won mean? Nowhere does anyone else charge an extra 100 won." Eventually, Jeon Hyun-moo exclaims, "That’s a price that doesn’t exist in this world," and Park Myung-soo challenges Kim Byung-hyun, saying, "I’ve never seen a price like that before. How did you come up with this price?" Kim Byung-hyun quickly lowers his head and says, "I didn’t know either. I think I miscalculated," raising expectations about whether Kim Byung-hyun can escape the crisis of his hamburger shop closing and maintain regular operations.
The precarious management of Kim Byung-hyun, a world-class major leaguer born in South Korea, will be revealed through the main broadcast of "Sadangui."
Meanwhile, KBS 2TV's "Boss's Ears Are Donkey Ears" airs every Sunday at 4:40 p.m.
