The second child on 'My precious child' was seen imitating his older brother.
On the broadcast of Channel A's 'Recent Parenting - My precious child' on the 21st, the second part of the story titled 'Actress Lee Sang-in and a mother on the brink with three brothers' was revealed.
On this day, the second child surprised everyone by relentlessly following and attacking his older brother. After continuous attacks, the eldest eventually retreated into the house, while the second child glared fiercely at him. Regarding this, Lee Sang-in noted, "It's rare for the second child to display aggression first. It's at the level of bullying, beyond just attacking. I was taken aback."
Doctor Oh Eun-young stated, "Human nature is refined through education. One of the ways it manifests is in how we treat the weak. If this isn’t learned at a very young age, it becomes easy to attack the weak. For the second child, his brother is seen as the weak one. As the differences become more evident, the eldest's shortcomings become visible. If not well learned, he may appear even weaker. This situation is called a very passive form, which is passive aggression. Since it seems one shouldn’t outright bully, the second child attacks while pretending it’s a mistake."
The second child’s unusual behavior did not stop there. He displayed imitative behavior towards his older brother at kindergarten. Suddenly, he started repeating the same phrases and struggled to interact with friends. There are signs of the first child's influence increasingly showing in the second child. Lee Sang-in's wife remarked, "We were aware of his passive tendencies and inability to play actively through intermediate counseling, but we didn’t expect it to be to this extent."
Doctor Oh Eun-young remarked, "While the second child does differ from the first, I see that he also has difficulties in social development." She added, "Generally, children with a two-year age gap tend to imitate their older siblings. They learn it as is. This is referred to as 'mirroring.'"
Lee Sang-in and his wife were concerned that the second child might inherit the autism spectrum behaviors seen in the first child. Thankfully, Doctor Oh Eun-young reassured them, "That is absolutely not the case. Initially, imitating does not lead to that. Of course, parenting is necessary, and the child may face difficulties without stimulation, but merely imitating does not lead to autism."
Doctor Oh Eun-young further explained, "Since the eldest has difficulties with interaction, one can imagine how much the parents called out the eldest’s name. They likely spent a lot of time and energy on the eldest, and as a result, became overwhelmed by him. Living in a remote village has also led to an isolated daily routine."
In the midst of this, the second child cried as he bumped into his mother and fell. Despite his mother’s apology, he raised his voice in anger. At that moment, the eldest suddenly interjected and pushed the crying second child. In response, the second child grabbed the eldest's hair, and their mother barely managed to separate them. Feeling deprived of attention, the second child asked, "Mom, do you dislike me?" The exhausted mother from parenting displayed a mix of emotions, laughing, crying, and getting angry.
Observing this, Doctor Oh Eun-young pointed out, "The second child's upset feelings do not conclude properly and end in a muddled way. The mother continues to try to explain the situation to the second child.. It is a kind of emotional disengagement."
