The Netflix series 'When Life Gives You Tangerines,' which has garnered great interest from viewers around the world, is once again suffering from illegal viewing in China.
A review page for 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' has been created on the Chinese content review site Douban, with currently about 30,000 reviews openly left. However, Netflix is not officially serviced in China.
In this regard, Professor Seo Kyung-deok of Sungshin Women's University noted, "When 'Squid Game' Season 2 was released, it was the same, and 'pirated viewing' has now become a daily occurrence in China."
In particular, Professor Seo criticized, "It is even more outrageous that they feel no shame about such actions."
So far, in China, they have freely used the portrait rights of Hallyu stars featured in K-content and created counterfeit products to sell, turning it into their own revenue structure, which has caused significant controversy.
'When Life Gives You Tangerines' has recently made it onto the TOP 10 list in a total of 41 countries, including Korea, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Turkey, the Philippines, and Vietnam, gaining great popularity both domestically and internationally.
Professor Seo remarked, "Chinese netizens should have the mindset to respect foreign content rather than making unreasonable claims that 'Korea has stolen Chinese culture.'"
