As singer late Wheesung rests in peace, the late artist's younger brother conveyed his final greetings.

The funeral of late Wheesung (real name Choi Wheesung) was held on the morning of the 16th at 6:20 a.m. at the Seoul Samsung Hospital funeral hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

After the funeral that day, the late artist's younger brother, who is a practicing physician, Choi Hyukseong, said, "While I was handling the funeral for two days, the truth is that my brother and I shared our lives together as brothers in our family. It seems that the fans are very sad, so I wanted to say a word to them."

Choi noted, "In our family, my brother was very stoic. I actually don't know well what my brother was doing outside. I only encountered him through broadcasts; outside of that, he was just my brother. Sometimes while watching TV with him, when I saw him on screen, it was so amazing. I wondered, 'Why is the person on that TV next to me?' It seemed that my brother was, in some ways, a different person in terms of work and real life."

He continued, "However, through text messages, he was very affectionate. He would always say, 'I love you, brother,' 'I love you, mom,' 'Thank you for being born,' without reservation. But when we met, he would say, 'I'm a bit tired, can I be alone for a moment?' He was someone who didn't easily let others in." He added, "I remember my brother that way, but while receiving condolences, I met many of his colleagues. They all said, 'He was so kind,' 'He was so warm,' 'He couldn't have been that kind.' So, I was left wondering, what kind of person was my brother, as I heard from them during the condolences."

Additionally, Choi said, "My brother was fundamentally a very kind and warm person. However, he always felt lonely and isolated and struggled. Our family wanted to understand the reasons behind that. We made significant efforts and were curious, genuinely wanting to help. However, there seemed to be certain aspects that could not be resolved by the efforts of others. We can't blame my brother for that, nor can we blame the family or the fans. Many colleagues were filled with regret, and many fans were deeply saddened. But we need to accept that there are certain unavoidable aspects of life."

He also shared, "While receiving condolences, the psychiatrist who treated my brother came. He said, 'I regret that it has come to this.' He mentioned that they had put in great effort. But illnesses can be beyond human control. This was true when our father passed away as well. Some things simply cannot be managed by human means. I hope you all do not blame yourselves too much," he consoled the guests instead.

Furthermore, Choi stated, "I believe that the physical life of Choi Wheesung has come to a halt. However, I think the music and songs he left behind will continue to exist. Even as we grow older and become grandparents, the songs of my brother will persist, and perhaps they might even live longer than us. It seems my brother was not someone we could see often. We would see him occasionally during performances. I hope you think of him as someone who is well-rested and doing something somewhere without creating music. So, I encourage you to live your daily life without being too sad."

In conclusion, he added, "His songs will continue to remain. They are available to listen to whenever you want and will always be by your side. To ensure that my brother is not forgotten, let us make sure that the next generation continues to remember and sing the songs of Wheesung. Please share my brother's music. In this way, he will continue to live by our side. I will ensure that my brother lives longer than you all, so please do not be too sad."

Meanwhile, Wheesung was found dead at his home in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, on the 10th. His agency stated, "He was found in a state of cardiac arrest at his home in Seoul and was pronounced dead."

The funeral procedures were intended to be quietly conducted for just the family due to concerns for Wheesung's mother's health. However, after much consideration, the bereaved family arranged a time to commemorate and honor many who remembered and loved Wheesung.
