Actor Lee Sang-in's eldest son has ultimately been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. He has shown difficulties with everyday conversation, excessive fixation on certain things, and even unexpected behaviors such as putting his hands in his pants, leading Oh Eun-young to make this diagnosis.

On the program 'The recent parenting - My precious child' broadcast on the 14th, the story of 'actor Lee Sang-in and a mother on the brink due to raising three sons' was revealed.

Lee Sang-in's couple's eldest son demonstrated outstanding English skills but displayed distracted behavior, unable to focus on anything outside his interests. He also struggled to adapt at school, often seen reading in a corner or looking at other books during class.

In particular, Geumjok displayed behavior during class of putting his hands inside his pants, and Lee Sang-in said, "At first, I thought he was adapting somewhat because you talked a lot about the improvements, but after seeing the video, it seems the long classes in the classroom are challenging, and the teacher seems to be struggling as well."

Eventually, Oh Eun-young noted, "This is not a medical institution, and it is not suitable for making a diagnosis, but I am a specialist in this field, so after viewing the video, I will visit in person," and she decided to urgently conduct a field diagnosis, pausing the recording momentarily.

Lee Sang-in and his wife watched in real-time as Dr. Oh Eun-young met with their eldest son, Geumjok. Dr. Oh Eun-young attempted to communicate with Geumjok but he did not look at her and began talking to himself. Geumjok repeated the same phrases, revealing difficulties in interaction.

Subsequently, Dr. Oh Eun-young assessed, "The only good point is that he expresses what he wants to say. The most challenging aspect is that there is no conversation. There is no back-and-forth dialogue. If I prompt for simple answers, he barely responds, but there is no interaction aligned with the topic. Therefore, in the case of eldest Geumjok, he appears to be on the autism spectrum."

The couple, who had been denying their son’s autism spectrum condition, broke down in tears at Dr. Oh Eun-young's diagnosis. Dr. Oh Eun-young stated, "What is commonly referred to as autism spectrum is neither due to the parents not loving their child, nor is it an environmental issue, but an error occurring during the consolidation of neural circuits in the brain. It is no one's fault."

She further emphasized, "Whatever the form, training social skills to apply them in daily life is key," adding, "It cannot be said that there are no difficulties, but it can be worked on from now. Maintaining stability in relationships with a small number of people is also important. The structure of daily life is very important for children who have difficulty interacting. They feel a sense of stability in a familiar structure and in a consistently repeated lifestyle."
