In the tvN weekend drama 'Potato Research Institute,' Lee Sun-bin and Kang Tae-oh raised heart rates with an intimate eye contact ending amid heavy rainfall.

In the tvN weekend drama 'Potato Research Institute' (directed by Kang Il-soo and Shim Jae-hyun, written by Kim Ho-su), episode 4, the relationship between Kim Mi-kyung (played by Lee Sun-bin) and So Baek-ho (played by Kang Tae-oh) reached a turning point. So Baek-ho proceeded with the dismissal according to principle despite Kim Mi-kyung's persuasion, but he found himself increasingly preoccupied. The appearance of So Baek-ho in front of Kim Mi-kyung, who was struggling to protect potato seeds amid the heavy rain, suggested an exciting turning point in their relationship.

On this day, Kim Mi-kyung could not believe that she had become a target for layoffs. So Baek-ho mentioned that the Potato Research Institute needed experts and labeled Kim Mi-kyung as 'surplus personnel' in a research team with low research contributions. Kim Mi-kyung was confused by So Baek-ho's cutting explanation. So Baek-ho felt uncomfortable seeing Kim Mi-kyung in such a difficult position, even though it was a restructuring that had been ongoing and was conducted according to principle.

Kim Mi-kyung was not the type to back down easily. The day after receiving the layoff notice, she sought out So Baek-ho. When Kim Mi-kyung asked if there was room for reconsideration, So Baek-ho firmly stated that there would be no reversal. Kim Mi-kyung attempted to negotiate by suggesting that she could resign before being laid off or even proposing a salary freeze until the year after next, but nothing worked. Accepting reality, Kim Mi-kyung found herself meeting Park Gi-se (played by Lee Hak-joo), her former boyfriend and So Baek-ho's direct superior, in a situation where she did not want to run into him again. Park Gi-se's comment that he could help her continue working at the Potato Research Institute made Kim Mi-kyung feel even more pathetic.

Meanwhile, an unexpected incident occurred at the Potato Research Institute research team's regular meeting. Jang Seul-ki (played by Kim Ji-a) mistakenly sent a message criticizing So Baek-ho in the research team's group chat. In order to handle Jang Seul-ki's mistake, Kim Mi-kyung took So Baek-ho's mobile phone and successfully deleted the chat messages in the director's office computer chat window by lying that she had made a mistake. So Baek-ho was greatly disappointed by Kim Mi-kyung's actions but found himself increasingly concerned. That night, in the pouring rain, So Baek-ho came to the research institute after Kim Mi-kyung. As Kim Mi-kyung moved the potato seeds to keep them from getting wet, she hung on to secure a tarp that had been ripped off by the strong wind. Just then, when she was losing her balance in the fierce wind and rain, So Baek-ho appeared. The deep eye contact between Kim Mi-kyung and So Baek-ho raised curiosity about the story ahead.
