Recently, Choo Sung-hoon, who is gaining explosive popularity among the MZ generation, drew attention by naming his role models as leading South Korean MCs such as Yoo Jae-suk and Shin Dong-yup. Currently hosting the unique Netflix talk show 'Churai Churai,' he is attracting buzz with his candid hosting style and humorous exchanges with various guests while honestly sharing his feelings as a beginner MC.
'Churai Churai' is a talk show where Choo Sung-hoon, whose personality shines through, explores guests in his own style. After its first two episodes were released on the 26th, it quickly climbed into Netflix's Today's South Korea Series Top 10 (updates will follow if additional achievements arise). Through 'Churai Churai,' Choo Sung-hoon engages in heartfelt conversations with diverse guests, sharing their bucket lists that they have always wanted to try, thereby creating a special talk show in his style. Comedian Lee Chang-ho has also joined to assist Choo Sung-hoon, enriching their chemistry.
Choo Sung-hoon recently conveyed his feelings about becoming an MC amid the love and attention of many, expressing his excitement. "It feels really good to be loved by the viewers of our country. I have a sense of responsibility that I need to work hard, and I feel a bit of pressure that I need to show a good side," he expressed, reflecting on how he has become a so-called 'trendsetter.' He continued, "Since it's my first time as an MC, I'm very grateful even though my skills are lacking. My family and friends all say it's a great opportunity," but he also added, "To be honest, I feel nervous each time we film, worrying if I'm doing well or not," revealing his feelings as a novice MC, eliciting laughter.
'Churai Churai' is praised for its unpredictable hosting by Choo Sung-hoon, who exudes raw charm and has a friendly chemistry with guests, offering a distinct fun compared to existing talk shows. Regarding this, Choo Sung-hoon said, "I don’t rely too much on the script, and I ask sincere questions on the spot about what I'm curious about," emphasizing his desire to show everything as it is. He also revealed his aspirations for role models as an MC, stating, "Naturally, my role models are senior figures like Yoo Jae-suk and Shin Dong-yup."
Lee Chang-ho, who is co-hosting the program, described the charm of MC Choo Sung-hoon by saying, "If a lion or tiger were to host, it would look something like this. Most talk shows follow scripts, but Choo Sung-hoon's instinctive ability to move is both an advantage and a genre." Choo Sung-hoon also expressed his gratitude, saying that he would have found it difficult to host alone without Lee Chang-ho's strong support.
The two MCs engage in honest and unfiltered conversations with various guests during each filming while also exploring unique bucket lists. Reflecting on a memorable episode, Choo Sung-hoon recalled the filming of the second episode released last week, stating, "It was a fascinating experience to challenge myself to musical acting alongside actor Shin Seong-rok." Lee Chang-ho added, "Every time we meet different guests and tackle unique challenges, it seems like unexpected and amusing episodes arise in each filming," hinting that the future episodes will be filled with laughter.
'Churai Churai' is produced by Kakao Entertainment, with PD Kwon Dae-hyun, who previously showcased various stars' hidden charms with 'Truth or Set-up: Elegant Life.' New episodes are released every Wednesday at 5 p.m. on Netflix.
