'Streaming' Kang Ha-neul confessed that he referred to YouTubers for his character.
On the morning of the 26th, a production report for the movie 'Streaming' was held at Lotte Cinema Gunja. Attending the event were lead actor Kang Ha-neul and director Jo Jang-ho.
'Streaming' (scripted and directed by Jo Jang-ho, provided and distributed by Lotte Entertainment, produced by Very Good Studios, co-produced by T.H. Story) is a thriller about a top-subscribed crime channel streamer, Woo Sang (played by Kang Ha-neul), who discovers clues to a serial murder case that remained unsolved and tracks the criminal while broadcasting in real-time.
In films like '30 Days,' 'Midnight Runners,' and 'Dongju,' as well as in the drama 'When the Camellia Blooms' and Netflix's 'Squid Game' Season 2, the universally likable actor Kang Ha-neul showcases an entirely new face in 'Streaming.' Expectations are high for his acting transformation, which includes intense tattoos and a crazed appearance.
Upon seeing the script for the first time, Kang Ha-neul said, "I was like, 'What is this?' The script itself was written from a first-person perspective of streaming. It was different from the movie structures I had seen until now, and it was unique. I felt good about it, and something about it felt fresh. I had a strong desire to try it out."
Kang Ha-neul expressed, "In the movie, my character is so confident that it borders on arrogance while maintaining the top subscriber position. He is flashy and very self-centered. He pays a lot of attention to what he wears. So, the costume and props teams were very considerate. They provided me with things that seemed insignificant but looked good. They also prepared a leather-covered notebook and a pen that twists before writing. I expressed my character accordingly."
When asked, "Isn't this a role you've never played before?" Kang Ha-neul responded, "Rather than expressing the character's personality, the format of this movie was unique. I observed the characteristics of people who stream in real-time while watching YouTube or similar platforms. I aimed to observe from the audience's perspective and incorporate that into my performance."
Meanwhile, 'Streaming' is set to be released on March 21.
