'Treasure Island' ratings surged.

According to Nielsen Korea, on the 23rd, the second episode of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Treasure Island' (written by Lee Myung-Hee, directed by Jin Chang-Kyu), which aired on February 22, recorded a nationwide rating of 8.1%, soaring a whopping 2 percentage points from the previous episode. The rating in the metropolitan area was 7.8%. The peak rating reached 9.9%. This makes it the number one in Saturday mini-series and the top mini-series of the week.

In this episode, Seo Dong-Ju (played by Park Hyung-Sik) stood up despite the betrayal of his lover, Yeo Eun-Nam (played by Hong Hwa-Yeon). It was revealed that the mastermind behind all this betrayal was the hidden power, Yeom Jang-Seon (played by Heo Jun-Ho), and the full-scale confrontation between Seo Dong-Ju and Yeom Jang-Seon began. The highly anticipated destructive combination of Park Hyung-Sik and Heo Jun-Ho made their debut, creating intense tension and shock in the living room.

That day, Seo Dong-Ju was shocked at the wedding of the granddaughter of Chairperson Cha Kang-Cheon (played by Woo Hyun). The bride walking down the aisle, who is the granddaughter of Chairperson Cha Kang-Cheon and the future niece-in-law of Yeom Jang-Seon, was none other than his beloved Yeo Eun-Nam. Seo Dong-Ju, who had dreamed of a happy future with Yeo Eun-Nam, cried out in betrayal. However, he was captured immediately and had to be forcibly confined in a sealed space during the wedding.

Shedding hot tears, Seo Dong-Ju composed himself and returned to the wedding hall. Yeo Eun-Nam briefly confronted Seo Dong-Ju and said she had chosen an arranged marriage, urging him to leave Daesan. Seo Dong-Ju rebutted that he would never leave Daesan, but he could not easily escape the sorrow of losing Yeo Eun-Nam. Nevertheless, Chairperson Cha Kang-Cheon called Seo Dong-Ju to the Daesan group family gathering, further complicating Seo Dong-Ju's feelings.

The reason Chairperson Cha Kang-Cheon invited Seo Dong-Ju to both the wedding and the family gathering was that he had actually heard everything about the relationship between Yeo Eun-Nam and Seo Dong-Ju from Yeom Jang-Seon. He wanted to confirm if Seo Dong-Ju harbored malicious intentions to capture his granddaughter easily. Seo Dong-Ju realized that the password to Chairperson Cha Kang-Cheon's safe had changed and sensed that Chairperson Cha was fully aware of his relationship with Yeo Eun-Nam.

Therefore, Seo Dong-Ju declared that he would leave Daesan. However, Chairperson Cha Kang-Cheon, having confirmed Seo Dong-Ju's true feelings, shared a significant secret with him. Chairperson Cha, who publicly had no sons, disclosed that he has an illegitimate son and even mentioned plans to eventually place that son at the top of Daesan Group. Chairperson Cha, who decided to continue using Seo Dong-Ju as his pawn, sent a substantial amount of gold bullion to Yeom Jang-Seon.

Ultimately, Seo Dong-Ju confronted Yeom Jang-Seon. Yeom Jang-Seon pressured Seo Dong-Ju by saying, “I feel uneasy.” Seo Dong-Ju did not back down either. As the two men's intense psychological battle heightened the drama's immersion and tension, Seo Dong-Ju had to watch Yeo Eun-Nam from a distance. Seo Dong-Ju's heart crumbled under the reality where he couldn't even show anger or any emotions toward Yeo Eun-Nam.

However, Yeom Jang-Seon was not one to let Seo Dong-Ju go easily. Determined to eliminate Seo Dong-Ju, who had become an obstacle to his puppet, Heo Il-Do (played by Lee Hae-Young), Yeom Jang-Seon set a trap for Seo Dong-Ju. Unaware of everything, Seo Dong-Ju was attacked by an unidentified man. Seo Dong-Ju fought back with all his strength, escaping from the crisis while covered in blood.

At that moment, Seo Dong-Ju noticed the phone of the man who attacked him ringing and answered it. On the other end of the phone, Cheon Gu-Ho (played by Joo Yeon-Woo), who has always been by Yeom Jang-Seon's side, asked, “Where is Seo Dong-Ju?” The episode concluded as Seo Dong-Ju reacted in shock upon realizing that Yeom Jang-Seon had tried to kill him. The preview for the third episode hinted at the full confrontation between Seo Dong-Ju and Yeom Jang-Seon, raising expectations.

The second episode of 'Treasure Island' unfolded a whirlwind of developments, shocking viewers. In particular, the scene where Seo Dong-Ju and Yeom Jang-Seon faced each other showcased the intense acting and presence of Park Hyung-Sik and Heo Jun-Ho, tightening the viewers' throats. The ending where Seo Dong-Ju was attacked highlighted this tension. With the protagonists established as adversaries in just the second episode, 'Treasure Island' is getting stronger with each passing episode and airs every Friday at 10 p.m. and Saturday at 9:50 p.m.
