'national team captain' Son Heung-min (34, LAFC) dreams of the day he will become a father.
Son Heung-min opened up about the World Cup, his soccer career and his future family plans. It is uncommon for Son Heung-min to speak about his private life rather than soccer.
Playing for LAFC, Son Heung-min recently spoke about life and marriage in an interview with U.S. entertainment outlet US Weekly.
Son Heung-min said, "I think I am now at an age when I could have a family. But no one knows the future. I really like children, so I don't know what will happen," he said with a laugh.
This represents a life perspective quite different from the past, when he only thought about soccer. In a 2019 interview with British outlet The Guardian, Son Heung-min said, "If I get married, the most important things will be family, my wife and children, and then soccer. I want soccer to be the top priority only while I am playing at the highest level," and said he did not plan to marry during his playing career.
He had said he would focus 100% on soccer. Now in his mid-30s, Son Heung-min has begun to look ahead to life after retiring as a soccer player. He expressed an open-minded view about family and the future. It has become possible to look forward to seeing Son Heung-min marry and start a family while still playing.
