Soccer god Lionel Messi (39, Inter Miami) and Son Heung-min (34, LAFC) have become the faces of MLS.
The MLS All-Star Game will be held on July 29 at Charlotte FC's home stadium, Bank of America Stadium. The MLS All-Star team will face the Liga MX All-Star team.
The MLS office revealed the candidates for the All-Star Game on the 18th (Korea time). The fan vote for the All-Star Game revealed the five leading candidates likely to be chosen at each position.
In the attackers category, Son Heung-min was named in the best five alongside Lionel Messi, Denis Bouanga (LAFC), Hugo Cuypers (Chicago), and Pity Martínez (Dallas). Son Heung-min was reported to have finished second in the attackers vote, behind Messi.
The idea of Messi and Son Heung-min starting together in the All-Star Game is becoming a reality. This fan vote will decide 11 of the 26 All-Star roster spots. The remaining players will be filled through coach recommendations and league office selections. Son Heung-min's All-Star selection in the attackers category alongside Messi is all but confirmed.
Son Heung-min's close partner Denis Bouanga is also likely to be selected as an All-Star. The imagined scene of Son Heung-min's pass being finished by Messi is coming closer to reality.
