Patrick Wisdom, who played last year for the KIA Tigers in professional baseball, will return to the major league stage.
MLB.com reported on the 19th (Korean time) that the Seattle Mariners have removed Wisdom from the injured list.
Wisdom, who had been sidelined with a left oblique injury, successfully regained his game readiness by hitting .304 (7-for-23) with 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and a 1.255 OPS in eight Triple-A rehab games.
MLB.com noted, "Wisdom made his Seattle debut as a pinch hitter on April 15," and added, "He also has experience playing for a Seattle-affiliated minor league team in 2020."
It also noted, "Wisdom has a career major league batting average of .209 (1,312 at-bats, 274 hits), 88 home runs, 207 RBIs and a 0.750 OPS," and added, "He hit 20 or more home runs for three consecutive years starting in 2021 during his time with the Chicago Cubs."
His KBO League performance was also mentioned. The outlet reported, "Wisdom appeared in 119 games for KIA last year, recording 35 home runs and 85 RBIs."
Wisdom is a good person before being a good player. MLB.com introduced him, saying, "Wisdom participated in various social contribution activities, including supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and was also a candidate for the Roberto Clemente Award for the Chicago Cubs in 2024."
Meanwhile, Seattle also called up left-handed prospect Robinson Ortiz to the big leagues along with Wisdom.
MLB.com said, "Ortiz has appeared in 15 games this season for the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers, posting a 1.69 ERA (16 innings, 3 earned runs), 18 strikeouts and a 1.25 WHIP," and added, "He is currently ranked 24th on Seattle's prospect list according to the MLB pipeline."
It added, "Ortiz moved to Seattle from the Los Angeles Dodgers last November in a trade for right-hander Tyler Goop," and noted, "The Dominican Republic native has a minor league career record of 114 games (41 starts) with a 17-13 record, a 3.37 ERA and 256 strikeouts."
