NC Dinos infielder Park Min-woo (33) again voiced his disappointment with ABS (automatic ball judgment system).
NC defeated the SSG Landers 10-5 on May 7 at Incheon SSG Landers Field in the 2026 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League. Park Min-woo started as the No. 3 designated hitter and drove the team's victory with two hits in four at-bats, one RBI, two runs and one walk.
After the game, Park Min-woo said in an interview, "The weather hadn't been good even before the game. The rain stopped, of course, but it was so cold I wondered if it was really May. There was water all over the field, so it was a cautious day for players. To be honest, I even thought I wished the game would be canceled today. Still, we won in the end, so I'm glad we played," he said with a smile.
This season, Park Min-woo has been having a strong year with a .328 batting average in 32 games (119 at-bats, 39 hits), one home run, 23 RBIs, 24 runs and an OPS of .846. He recently became the center of attention for comments about ABS. The remark that ABS's strike zone changes slightly every day drew attention. Both the Korea Baseball Organization and ABS maintain that the strike zone is consistent.
When the ABS topic came up during the interview, Park Min-woo said, "I learned something recently. It's been three years since ABS was implemented, but I found out after talking with players from LG and SSG. To operate ABS, all batters have their height measured, but I only just learned that they add 3cm to the measured height."
Park Min-woo said, "They say the reason they add 3cm is because of spike height," and added, "But our players heard that for the first time this time. It's regrettable that there was no communication about this at all." He continued, "I actually don't know the reason for adding 3cm. It's true that spike height exists, but when batters step into the batter's box they dig their feet in and plant them, so the actual height could even decrease."
Emphasizing, "It's not that I hate ABS," Park Min-woo said, "We players also like ABS because it treats both teams fairly. But the ones playing are the players, so I hope the KBO listens to our views and that communication improves. Then I think we can make better improvements," he said, expressing his regret.
Park Min-woo said, "Hasn't attendance really increased in the KBO League? As revenue has grown, I hope the cameras for ABS will use high-quality equipment like Major League Baseball. In the KBO, no matter what players say, the only answer is that ABS is consistent, so from our perspective that is frustrating. If players and the KBO communicated more actively, I think everyone would be satisfied," and he expressed hope that the KBO and players would move in a healthy direction.<
