The second trade of the season has occurred.
Pro baseball Doosan Bears executed a one-for-one trade with Samsung Lions on the 6th. Doosan sent infielder Park Gye-beom (30) to Samsung and acquired promising batting talent Ryu Seung-min (22).
Doosan sought to bolster the outfield, while Samsung aimed to strengthen the infield. A Doosan official said, "Ryu Seung-min is now a 22-year-old outfielder who has completed military service with the Sangmu team. He shows exceptional batting talent and has limitless growth potential," adding, "He is a prospect who can easily secure an outfield spot in the future."
A left-handed pitcher/left-handed batter outfielder who graduated from Gwangju Jeil High School, Ryu Seung-min was selected by Samsung in the 7th round (68th overall) of the 2023 rookie draft. In his debut year in 2023 he played 24 games and hit .212 (11 hits in 52 at-bats). In 2024 he played five games with three at-bats and one hit, and he completed military service with Sangmu and returned in December last year.
In the first team he has appeared in 30 games overall, hitting .204 (11 hits in 54 at-bats) with five RBIs and six runs. In the Futures League he has played 219 games overall, hitting .263 (176 hits in 668 at-bats) with 14 home runs and 103 RBIs.
This year in the first team he appeared in one game with one at-bat and no hits. In the Futures League he played 24 games, hitting .329 (28 hits in 85 at-bats) with 11 RBIs.
Park Gye-beom did not appear in any first-team games this year. In the Futures League he played 14 games, hitting .129 (4 hits in 31 at-bats). Last year he appeared in 94 first-team games, hitting .263 with one home run and 27 RBIs. In his professional career he has played 537 games, hitting .241 with 17 home runs and 143 RBIs.
After the 2020 season, Park Gye-beom moved from Samsung to Doosan as the compensation player for free agent Oh Jae-il. He will return to Samsung after six years.
