The LA Dodgers broke a four-game losing streak.
The Dodgers beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-1 on April 4 (Korean time) in an away game at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri, in the 2026 Major League Baseball season.
They snapped the four-game skid that began with a 1-2 loss to the Miami Marlins at home on March 29. Starting pitcher Justin Wrobleski held scoreless over six innings.
At the plate, Kim Hye-seong was the only Dodger with multiple hits and drove in one, and Andy Pages and Freddie Freeman each had RBI hits. Kim, who was hitless the previous day, recorded his sixth multi-hit game of the season.
The Dodgers batted Shohei Ohtani (designated hitter), Freddie Freeman (first base), Teoscar Hernández (left field), Kyle Tucker (right field), Max Muncy (third base), Dalton Rushing (catcher), Andy Pages (center field), Kim Hye-seong (shortstop) and Alex Freeland (second base) in that order.
Kim Hye-seong went 2 for 2 with one RBI and one run, contributing to the team's victory. Kim's season batting average rose from .293 to .317.
The Dodgers took the lead in the top of the second. Tucker hit a double, and Muncy drew a walk. After Rushing struck out swinging, Pages hit an RBI double to break the tie.
With runners at second and third and one out, Kim Hye-seong attacked St. Louis starter Dustin May's second pitch, an 86.1 mph sweeper, and delivered an RBI hit. Kim turned a pitch that grazed the inside of the strike zone into a hit to right field.
Kim Hye-seong, leading off the top of the fifth with the team up 2-0, attacked May's sixth pitch, a 97.7 mph (about 157 km) four-seam fastball, and produced an infield hit.
After Kim reached base, Freeland was retired on a fly ball to right and Ohtani grounded out. But Freeman attacked May's third pitch, an 84.9 mph curve, and delivered a run-scoring single to center. Kim, who had been on second, rounded third and scored on Freeman's hit.
In his first plate appearance Kim faced a sweeper, and in his second he attacked a 157 km fastball to complete a multi-hit game. Kim was replaced before his third plate appearance in the seventh after St. Louis removed May and brought in left-handed reliever Justin Bruihl.
Rojas batted for Kim Hye-seong and drew a walk, but it didn't lead to a run. Freeland struck out, and Ohtani reached on a hit by pitch to create a one-out, runners on first and second chance, but Freeman struck out and Hernández hit into an inning-ending ground out.
The Dodgers appeared pressed when Alex Verdugo delivered an RBI hit in the bottom of the eighth, but they added a valuable insurance run in the top of the ninth. Leadoff batter Pages reached on an error and stole a base, and Rojas' infield grounder produced a one-out, runner on third situation. Alex Call then delivered an RBI single to make it 4-1, and Tanner Scott came on in the bottom of the ninth and preserved the win with a scoreless inning.
